Elliot Roth- Founder, CEO, Spira

LinkedInIt’s my purpose to shake the world.

Creative catalyst. Fast-paced execution. Value-creation. Constantly curious. Using Design Thinking and the Lean Startup methodology to create novel products and systems. Making teams more than the sum of their parts.

All of these strategies are core to my philosophy of identifying opportunities and quickly breaking down barriers. I fearlessly pursue answers to big problems. I build startup communities. I am a ruckus maker.

I have experience in leading teams to start companies, I’ve hosted 1000+ people events, and I’ve helped create products that lead users to moments of wonder. I’m on a mission to create something every day.

Using my skills in device design, life science and technology commercialization, I’ve co-founded a biotechnology company (Cush), an equity trade-based design and technology consultancy (Sprk+Foon), an urban design startup (ViV) and a nonprofit science laboratory (Indie Lab RVA).
Cush is an award-winning dynamic wheelchair cushion that uses novel biomaterials and biomedical technology to adjust to the user’s needs. Sprk+Foon has done work for multiple clients to design medical products, websites, and an app. ViV is a translational research project that seeks to solve the problem of stormwater runoff in cities. Indie Lab RVA is a community laboratory to open access to science for all so that aspiring scientists can start their ideas at any time.

I love helping people create and unlock their inner potential. I constantly have multiple side-projects going on so drop me a line if you’re interested in the intersection of technology and different fields. I can wax poetic about literary tropes just as well as I can talk shop about biotechnology. Let me know how I can help.

The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin Benjamin Franklin

Blessed with enormous talents and the energy and ambition to go with them, Franklin was a statesman, author, inventor, printer, and scientist. He helped draft the Declaration of Independence and later was involved in negotiating the peace treaty with Britain that ended the Revolutionary War. He also invented bifocals, a stove that is still manufactured, a water-harmonica, and the lightning rod.
Franklin’s extraordinary range of interests and accomplishments are brilliantly recorded in his Autobiography, considered one of the classics of the genre. Covering his life up to his prewar stay in London as representative of the Pennsylvania Assembly, this charming self-portrait recalls Franklin’s boyhood, his determination to achieve high moral standards, his work as a printer, experiments with electricity, political career, experiences during the French and Indian War, and more. Related in an honest, open, unaffected style, this highly readable account offers a wonderfully intimate glimpse of the Founding Father sometimes called “the wisest American.”
